Broken spring repairs

Broken Garage Door Springs: San Ramon & Danville Repairs

When a torsion spring lets go, the door suddenly feels impossibly heavy, will not stay open, or will not lift at all. These are two real spring-failure repairs we completed in the East Bay, showing what the homeowner noticed, what we found, and how the door worked afterward.

San Ramon: door would not lift after a snapped spring

A San Ramon homeowner came out one morning to a door that would not open. The opener strained but the door barely moved, and there was a loud bang reported the night before.

What we found: the torsion spring had snapped, so the counterbalance that normally carries the door's weight was gone. A worn end plate on the spring assembly needed attention as well.

The repair: we replaced the broken spring, serviced the worn end plate, and rebalanced the door so the opener was no longer lifting the full dead weight. We cycled the door and confirmed it held position at every point of travel.

Danville: heavy, unsafe door from spring and hardware wear

A Danville homeowner's door had become heavy and awkward to operate, straining the opener and moving unevenly.

What we found: the spring had weakened and related hardware had worn, so the door was no longer balanced and safe to run.

The repair: we replaced the spring, corrected the worn hardware, and rebalanced the system. After the work the door opened smoothly and safely under its own counterbalance.
