What should you look for while a garage door opens and closes?
The door should remain level, move at a consistent speed, keep its rollers seated in the tracks, and travel without shuddering, scraping, or sudden reversals. The opener should stop at the correct limits without forcing the door into the floor or header.
What to watch for in the footage
Both bottom corners should rise and lower evenly.
Rollers should remain seated without binding through the curved track.
Sections should pass through the radius without popping or excessive flexing.
The opener rail, ceiling supports, and stored items should maintain safe clearance.
Safety note: Do not stand or walk beneath a moving door during a test. If the door jerks, hangs crooked, reverses unexpectedly, or makes a sharp cable or spring noise, stop the test and disconnect normal use until it is inspected.
