How do you know if garage door hinges or rollers are worn?
Look for loose hinge fasteners, cracked or distorted hinge leaves, roller stems that wobble, chipped or noisy wheels, rubbing marks, and rollers that do not travel cleanly through the vertical track. A single symptom does not prove the cause, but several together justify a professional inspection.
What to watch for in the footage
Check whether hinge leaves sit flat and all fasteners remain tight.
Watch for roller wobble, chipped wheels, rust, or metal-on-metal noise.
Look for rubbing marks or binding where the roller travels through the track.
Stop operating the door if hardware is separating or a roller is leaving the track.
Safety note: Do not loosen bottom brackets, cables, spring hardware, or track fasteners while the door is under load. Those components can move suddenly and cause serious injury.
